ROME is the experimental and neoclassical project led by Luxembourgish singer-songwriter Jérôme Reuter, known for blending military drumming, atmospheric electronic textures, and ethereal acoustic guitars with poetic lyrics that delve into themes of war, love, pain, and death. Reuter draws inspiration from literary figures such as Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Albert Camus, Ernst Jünger, and Jean Genet. The artist has been a significant force in the musical underground for two decades, cultivating a loyal following globally. In recent endeavors, ROME is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025 with a significant output of seven releases throughout the year. This includes the release of three new albums on April 25, 2025: "Anthology 2016-2025," "The Dublin Sessions II," and "Civitas Solis." "Anthology 2016-2025" compiles recent compositions, shifting focus to contemporary issues like ideological struggles and global crises, while "The Dublin Sessions II" is a collaborative effort with Irish musicians. Furthermore, ROME is set to usher in a new era with two additional albums, "The Tower" and "The Hierophant," both scheduled for release on December 19, 2025, which are expected to showcase a more mature sound with minimalist folk elements and lush arrangements. Prior to these, ROME released 'Gates of Europe' in 2023, a concept album addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and the mini-album 'World in Flames,' described as a "ruthless and unsparing dissection of the modern world" blending industrial sounds with crafted songwriting. ROME is also undertaking a 20th Anniversary Tour in 2025, with dates announced across Europe and Australia. The project previously faced a legal dispute regarding its name with "Sublime With Rome," resulting in temporary removal of music from some streaming platforms in the US, though ROME successfully cancelled the opposing side's European trademark, leading to the reinstatement of its music on digital platforms in the EU.
