Lara Somogyi is a Los Angeles-based harpist and contemporary classical performer-composer known for forging a new artistic identity for the harp by integrating electronics and pedal effects with her classical roots. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, she was awarded an honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in 2018 for her contributions to her field. Her recent endeavors include the release of "! (expansion)" in October 2023, a digital-only expanded album of her debut solo work. Her cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" reached #1 on U.S. Classical Streaming Charts. Somogyi has signed her second record deal with Decca Records and its innovative imprint Mercury KX. She also scored the documentary "Better Angels: The Gospel According To Tammy Faye" with composing partner Cyrus Reynolds, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024. Her work also includes features on Ben Lukas Boysen's album "Spells" and Bonobo's 2022 record "Fragments". As an active session harpist, her unique sound can be heard in film and TV scores such as "Blue Planet II" (Hans Zimmer & Jacob Shea featuring Radiohead), Disney's "The Lion King," Netflix's "Bridgerton," and Hulu's "Little Fires Everywhere".
