Carlos Vives is one of the most emblematic artists of Colombia and a prominent figure in Latin music, known as a pioneer of the new Colombian and Latin American sound. A singer, composer, actor, and entrepreneur, Vives is celebrated for his fusion of traditional Colombian vallenato music with pop and rock elements, which has broadened the genre's international appeal. With over 20 million albums sold worldwide, he has won two Grammy Awards and 17 Latin Grammy Awards. In 2024, the Latin Recording Academy honored Carlos Vives as Person of the Year in recognition of his three-decade career and his contributions to cultural heritage and philanthropic initiatives. In July 2025, Vives serenaded Santa Marta, Colombia, his birthplace, on its 500th birthday, expressing his love for the city.
