About the venue

Parkteatret is a historic venue in Oslo, originally established in 1907 as a cinema. It was first known as 'Grünerløkkens Kinematograf' and later 'Grünerløkkens Verdenstheater', before being renamed Parkteatret in 1922. Today, it functions as a popular 500-capacity music venue, bar, and cultural hub in the heart of Grünerløkka. It is renowned for its excellent reputation for hosting Norwegian and international acts, offering a unique atmosphere with good sound and a close proximity to the stage, thanks to its original sloping cinema floor. The venue also features a bar in the old cinema foyer, which retains its original Art Deco-style interior and serves food, craft beers, and cocktails. Parkteatret has been awarded the Olavsrosa seal of quality by the foundation Norsk Kulturarv, recognizing it as an urban cultural heritage site.
