Split Chain is a Bristol, England-based quintet formed in 2023, known for their shoegaze sound, often described as "nu-gaze" or "dreamo," which blends elements of nu-metal, grunge, alternative metal, and post-hardcore. The band consists of Roberto Martínez-Cowles (vocals), Jake Reid (guitar), Oliver Bowles (guitar), Tom Davies (bass), and Aaron Black (drums). They released their debut album, *motionblur*, on July 11, 2025, through Epitaph Records, which has garnered millions of streams. Split Chain is currently on their first Australian tour with Better Lovers in late January 2026. They are also scheduled for a North American tour in early 2026 alongside Soul Blind, Dream Fatigue, and Downward, including a performance at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on May 9. In 2025, they headlined their first New York City show and performed at major festivals such as Spain's Resurrection Fest and the U.K.'s Download Festival. The band embraces a philosophy that "The Chain does what it wants," reflecting their broad-minded and unconstrained creative approach.
