James Arlington is a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and filmmaker hailing from Norwich, England, and currently based in London. His music is primarily pop, characterized by a blend of modern production with nostalgic undertones, drawing influences from 70s and 80s pop, funk, and soul music. He began his musical journey at a young age, learning piano at eight and making music by eleven, and has spent his teenage years refining his craft in various bands. Arlington cites artists such as Jamiroquai, George Michael, FKJ, Tom Misch, Jordan Rakei, and Tame Impala as inspirations, with Beck's "Colors" and Jordan Rakei's "Cloak" among his favorite albums.
