Tough Cookie is a London-based alt-rock band known for their emotive sound, blending early 2000s slacker sensibilities with the emotional depth of Radiohead, and drawing inspiration from artists like Pavement, Pixies, Adrianne Lenker, and Patti Smith. The quartet, comprising August Tse, Daniel Hvorostovsky, Jess Ayres, and Gavin Sullivan, describes their music as an honest account of navigating vulnerability, disconnection, and escapism. They released their debut mixtape, "The Countryside Is Good For You," on October 10, 2025, via Gravity Records, which features tracks like "Happiness," "Sandcastles 2008," "Emory," and "Paycheck." Following the mixtape's release, Tough Cookie kicked off 2026 by headlining DIY's "Hello 2026" gig series in January and have plans for more shows, new music, and exhibitions to merge art and music.
