About The Youth Play

Shoegaze

The Youth Play is a London-based shoegaze and alternative rock band, recognized for their captivating blend of dreamy tones, post-punk energy, and Latin emotional intensity. Fronted by Latin American migrant Diego Bracho, whose background as a former environmental scientist and personal experiences with migration and resistance deeply infuse the band's lyrical themes. The band, also comprising Harrison Ballard (lead guitar), Alex Hanrahan (bass), and Finley Bruce (drums), formed while studying music in London. Their latest endeavors include the release of their EP, "someday, forever," on August 15, 2025, preceded by singles such as "Last Day On Earth" (released July 30, 2025), "Maybe This Was All For Us" (released 2025), and "A Fair Life" (released May 21, 2025). The EP explores topics like climate collapse, political injustice, migration, and the search for joy amidst chaos. The Youth Play has garnered significant support from major platforms and publications, including Apple Music, NME, DIY, CLASH, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend Introducing, and has toured across Europe and the UK. Bracho's ongoing hope to secure his continued stay in the UK adds a poignant urgency to the band's momentum.
