Tayc, whose real name is Julien Bouadjie, is a French singer-songwriter born in Marseille to Cameroonian parents, known for pioneering the "Afrolove" genre, a blend of French R&B, pop urbaine, Afrobeats, and Afrobeat, enriched by jazz and soul influences. He launched his musical career in 2012, gaining significant recognition with his mixtapes "Alchemy" (2017) and "H.E.L.I.O.S" (2018), followed by his debut triple album "NYXIA" (2019). His 2020 album "Fleur froide" further propelled his international career, featuring hit songs like "Le temps" and "N'y pense plus". Tayc has accumulated over 1.6 billion views on his YouTube channel and was nominated for Francophone Male Artist of the Year by the NRJ Music Awards in 2021. In recent news, Tayc announced a "grande pause" in his career in June 2025, citing profound personal loss—the tragic passing of his best friend and manager, Kévin Corne, in August 2024—and a spiritual crisis. This decision, though stunning to the Francophone music world, also follows past controversies, such as the backlash over his 2023 track "Quand tu dors". Despite this announced pause, Tayc revealed during a concert in November 2025 that he is making a return to music and plans to release a new album in 2026. He also celebrated becoming a father to a baby girl born in November 2025. Tayc also released new music in late 2025 and early 2026, including the singles "Tiens Moi Pour Toujours" and "My New Beginning Is You". He is also scheduled for at least one concert in July 2026.
