She Past Away is a Turkish post-punk band, formed in 2006 in Bursa, known for their distinctive dark wave musical style with post-punk roots and a gothic aesthetic. Comprising Volkan Caner (vocals, guitar) and Doruk Öztürkcan (keyboards, producer), their sound is characterized by a reworked 80s feel, signature post-punk guitar, and minimalist poetry delivered in Turkish, often exploring themes of sentimental anxiety and nihilism. They have been compared to iconic bands such as The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division, and Clan of Xymox. In their latest endeavors, She Past Away released a new single titled “Ölüm Günüm” (My Day of Death) on November 17, 2024, in collaboration with Turkish darkwave duo Ductape. Prior to that, on September 13, 2024, they unveiled an official music video for their track “İnziva,” which draws inspiration from German Expressionist silent films. Looking ahead, the band is scheduled to perform at the Dark Ceremony Festival in Houston on April 18, 2026. Their most recent studio album, "Disko Anksiyete," was digitally released on May 31, 2019, showcasing a more synth-driven sound while maintaining their core style. To mark their first decade, She Past Away also released "X" in May 2020, an album featuring 22 remixes by various influential artists including Boy Harsher, Front 242, and Lebanon Hanover.
