Evicshen, also known as Victoria Shen, is a San Francisco-based sound artist, experimental music performer, and instrument-maker. Her work explores the physicality of sound and its connection to the human body, often using analog modular synthesizers, vinyl/resin records, and self-built electronics. Eschewing traditional harmony and rhythm, Evicshen favors extreme textures and gestural tones, employing what she describes as "chaotic sound" to challenge conventional meanings. She is known for her inventive instruments and performance techniques, including "Needle Nails," acrylic nails with embedded turntable styluses. In December 2024, Evicshen performed at Cantor Arts Center for the "Forms & Frequencies" series. Evicshen also performed at Venus Fest in September 2024.
