His music blends Latin American folk rhythms with organic sounds like birdsong, and downtempo electronica. He is known for mixing dub, IDM, and electronica with Latin American rhythms and melodies, incorporating sounds of nature like waterfalls and birdsongs. El Búho is also an environmental activist, and he is associated with the Shika Shika record label.
