Dymna Lotva is a Belarusian post-black and doom metal band, formed in 2015 by composer Jaŭhien Charkasau and vocalist Katsiaryna "Nokt Aeon" Mankevich. The band's name, meaning "Swamp in Smoke," references the historical atrocities in the Polesie region. Their music is known for its melancholic and haunting melodies, blending black metal, doom metal, and traditional Belarusian elements. The lyrics often draw from true tales of sorrow, history, and folklore from Belarus, reflecting the ongoing political persecution and conflict in their homeland. The duo had to flee Belarus due to political persecution and attempts by the Lukashenka dictatorship to suppress their art. After initially seeking refuge in Ukraine, where Nokt Aeon escaped heavy fighting in Irpin, they eventually reunited in Poland, where they are now based. Their third full-length album, "The Land under the Black Wings: Blood" (Зямля Пад Чорнымі Крыламі: Кроў), was released on August 4, 2023, via Prophecy Productions. This album continues their conceptual trilogy and is described as an act of defiance, filled with grief and pain, often touching on themes of war and survival. The album notably features powerful and raw vocal performances, incorporating elements like children's screams and traumatized narration samples to convey its themes. In recent endeavors, Dymna Lotva has been actively performing across Europe since the release of their latest album. They released a digital-only album, "Live At Dark Easter Metal Meeting 2025," through Prophecy Productions, capturing a celebrated concert in Munich. The band also unveiled a full performance video of their set at Prophecy Fest 2024 and Zobens Un Lemess Open Air 2025 on YouTube. They are also planning their first headlining tour.
