The George Tavern is a Grade II listed public house and legendary music, performance, and arts venue located in the heart of East London. Formerly known as the Halfway House, the building contains original brickwork some 700 years old and is mentioned in texts by Geoffrey Chaucer, Samuel Pepys, and Charles Dickens. Since 2002, owner Pauline Forster has transformed it into an internationally renowned venue, hosting a diverse array of musical acts and serving as a popular location for photo, film, and video shoots. It is known for its role in fighting against gentrification and supporting a thriving artistic community.
