The O2 Academy Bristol is a vibrant live music venue located in the heart of Bristol, renowned for hosting a diverse range of club nights and gigs. It opened in 2001, but its history dates back to 1966 as part of the Mecca Leisure Group's New Entertainments Centre, initially functioning as an ABC Cinema. After a period as a nightclub called 'Rock' and then the Carling Academy, it was officially renamed O2 Academy in 2009. The venue caters to various musical genres, including hip hop, drum 'n' bass, indie, rock, alternative, metal, pop, RnB, and soul. It has a main auditorium capacity of approximately 1,600 people for gigs and is a significant focal point for the South West's cultural scene.
