The Kino Babylon is a historic cinema in the Mitte neighborhood of Berlin, part of a listed building complex at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Designed by architect Hans Poelzig in the Neue Sachlichkeit style, it was erected in 1928–29 and opened on April 11, 1929. It originally featured a single screen with 1200 seats and an orchestra pit with a cinema organ for musical accompaniment during silent films. After surviving World War II intact, it served as a speciality cinema for East Germany, undergoing heavy renovation in 1948. The auditorium was closed in 1993 due to the risk of collapse, and after a comprehensive restoration between 1999 and 2001, it reopened. Since 2001, it primarily functions as a revival house, a venue for film festivals, musical, and literary cultural events. It is notable for possessing the only fully operational original cinema organ in Germany that is still played in its original location. The cinema now has three screens, seating 500, 68, and 43 people respectively.

Address: Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 30 Berlin, 10178 Mitte, Germany
