Now Ex – Now Ex is the musical pseudonym for East London alt pop artist Nick Hampson. Known alongside Now Ex for his filmmaking, this is cinematic pop that was built for the silver screen, and makes the listener the protagonist. It’s captivating, layered pop music that’s as much emo as it is orchestral, as much optimistic as it is bleak and defeated.
Originally coming up in the Royal Opera as a child soloist, Nick’s voice is tinged with classical character, whilst remaining discernibly contemporary, inviting comparisons to artists such as London Grammar, Sam Smith and Jeff Buckley. This unique vocal style is combined with highly emotive storytelling and then wrapped up in an infectious pop package, creating a truly distinctive sound world that’s entirely his own.
Now Ex launched during the pandemic and accrued a global army of devoted fans across his first two EPs, whilst playing a series of packed out London shows along the way, including legendary venues like Omeara and the Camden Assembly. 2023 was a big year for Now Ex, with sold out debut shows all over Germany and a beautiful acoustic show at the iconic St Pancras Old Church in London. February 2024 will see his most substantial tour so far, with shows in Czechia, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. On 17th October, Now Ex finishes his Welcome To The Feeling Tour with a very special hometown headline show at infamous London venue, The Garage.
Tracers - Glasgow indie-alt-rock trio Tracers answer back with their booming single 'Tonight’ , the second single to be taken from their upcoming debut EP.
Having cut their teeth with some electrifying performances across Glasgow including opening for Covasettes at King tuts, Arcade State at SWG3 and three sold out headline shows at 'King Tuts' ‘The Garage’ and Broadcast, the band have already established themselves as an exciting up and coming talent despite only having one single out in the world.
Recorded at Abbey Road and Metropolis' Studio and then produced and mastered by Tayte Nickols and Sugarhouse respectively, the new single ‘Tonight’ captures lightning in a bottle with the high-energy, racing guitar riffs and infectious melodies all put onto a summer backdrop
Bringing together biting guitar tones, punching drums and driving bass, the band create a high-octane indie backdrop for the boxy, lightly distorted urgent lead vocals to move above. Layering the vocals throughout, the vocals create an almost chanted intensity, giving the track the essence of a stadium filling anthem.
An exciting new band with bags of potential, Tracers power through 2024 with a whole host of new material, ready to take their music to the next level.
Cloaks - Cloaks are an up-and-coming five-piece guitar band based in Glasgow.
Their single ‘Headhunter’ premiered on BBC Radio Scotland’s Billy Sloan Show, where influential music journalist Billy Sloan commented “they might just be my new favourite band.” Cloaks have since found themselves on BBC Scotland’s top 20 tracks of 2023. Their current single ‘Mainframe’ has also since had airtime on BBC Radio Scotland.
