Over the past twelve years, their seamless amalgamation of traditional and folk music with hard rock, heavy metal, ska, and even disco has inspired a new generation of upcoming artists to defy the boundaries of genres and venture into the exploration of their own cultural heritage. They were formed in 2012 and immediately drew attention and general acclamation with their very first international appearance - at Eurovision 2013 in Sweden, with the song Alcohol is Free. Currently, the song has more than 12 million views on YouTube, cumulatively through several video versions of it. In March 2013, after less than a year of existence, Koza Mostra released their first album - Keep Up The Rhythm, and until today they have sold more than 150.000 physical copies of it, as well as 300.000 digital copies. In late 2017, they released their second album Corrida, an exquisite fusion of many music genres, including ska, Balkan tradition, pop, hard rock and punk, blended with Rebetiko (a traditional Greek music genre from the interwar period), marking themselves as a “one of a kind” band. Since then, they have continued with periodical releases of new singles Requiem in collaboration with Pedro Erazo from Gogol Bordello, Bilio;Itia (live), and the most recent one – Elvis exploring their music and cultural origins by combining heavy metal sound with the most famous Greek traditional string instrument, the bouzouki. As one of the best uplifting party bands around, Koza Mostra is performing continuously at numerous festivals, events and club shows all over Europe, delivering a superb party and a unique artistic experience wherever they perform, while making any, and all kinds of audience dance, with many concerts being a resounding success, including highlight shows like the Sziget festival 2023. To that, the leader and singer of the band, Elias Kozas says “We never expected that people would like so much what we do because we were doing it for ourselves only, being curious about the ways we can play music we like and combine the genres we appreciate. But we are grateful for the opportunity to make people of different backgrounds and cultural identities dance, headbang, sing with us like one, smile and smash all kinds of borders, starting from the music industry ones”. The new album is coming up in October 2024. Meanwhile, the band is polishing it in the studio and rehearsing for the album release tour in late 2024. ZAC AND THE NEW MEN - Meet "Zac and The New Men," a bunch of 20-year-old best friends from South Wales.
