House of Lazarus live at The Old Queens Head

HOUSE OF LAZARUS - With roots in hip hop, funk, and jazz, the energetic bars of British-Nigerian rapper + songwriter Cosmos Zero (yes, that's his real name) and the soul of British-Sri Lankan singer-songwriter Lucien Kodi (guitarist, pianist, bassist) fuse to create the self-produced duo known as House Of Lazarus. Whilst attending the University of Warwick, these two teenagers began jamming at a local jazz bar. It was there that their musical synergy was first unleashed. With performance experience at events such as Godiva Festival the Woodlands Stage at Kendal Calling 2024, this duo is set to take the music scene by storm. Entirely self written + produced. The four-piece is a jarred coalescence of folk/soul roots (courtesy of lead vocalist/pianist Rory Dinwoodie), deep pocket grooves (stickman Vic V.L. Palmer), funk/soul basslines (Arseniy Butyrin) and alternative/college rock flourishes (Q Zanjani, guitarist/vocalist). The third single of their debut EP 'Lisbon' will be released in February 2025. Singer Joanna Beck leads with a vocal style that falls somewhere between Siouxsie Sioux and Trish Keenan of Broadcast. Their music is rooted in cinematic psychedelia, with the orchestration on some of their songs reflecting a big screen aesthetic. Joanna Beck is also a composer and performance artist who also creates electroacoustic music, sonic art, and has scored for theatre and film.
