Alexandra Căpitănescu is a 22-year-old Romanian singer-songwriter who rose to fame by winning The Voice of Romania in 2023. She achieved further international acclaim by finishing 3rd in the grand final of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest with her self-penned rock track "Choke Me" - Romania's best-ever result in the competition.
Born on July 31, 2003, in Galați, Căpitănescu began singing and playing piano at age 10. Alongside her music career, she holds a degree in Medical Physics from the University of Bucharest and is currently pursuing her Master's in the same field. After early appearances on Romania's Got Talent in 2019, her breakthrough came with her 2023 Voice of Romania victory under the coaching of Tudor Chirilă. Signed to Universal Music Romania, she released her debut EP, Căpitanu', in 2024. Today, she writes her own music and regularly tours major domestic festivals like Electric Castle, blending pop-rock, soft-rock, and heavier rock elements into her live project.
