Product Engineer — Fan Experience
Gotobeat – The operating system for live music
Location: Remote-first (UTC to UTC+3 preferred) | Type: Full-time | Reports to: Head of Tech
Salary: Competitive + equity
How to apply: send your CV to alfredo@gotobeat.com
Why this role matters
This is the side of Gotobeat that fans touch. They find a gig, they want to go, and they buy the ticket on a phone in under a minute. We are hiring one engineer to lead that product. You decide what fans see, you build it, and you measure what happens next. Gotobeat will grow fast over the next twelve months, so the fan product you shape now is the one millions of people will use.
About Gotobeat
Gotobeat builds software for live music: for the artists who play, the venues that host and the promoters who book. We help emerging artists earn more, venues fill more seats and promoters spend less time on admin. The platform covers planning, promotion, ticketing and post-show settlement. It runs on an AWS serverless stack, Python data pipelines and LLM agents.
What you'll do
- 35% Product development. Find new ways to connect fans with artists and with their shows, then build them: a better way to discover a gig, a reason to come back, a checkout that takes no effort. You own the idea, the prototype, the release and the result.
- 20% Lead the fan product. You have full creative and product ownership of what fans see. You set the roadmap, you ship every week and you report the numbers. It is the most enjoyable work a product-led engineer can do: an open brief and a live audience.
- 15% Make mobile web fast. Core Web Vitals, streamed SSR, image and font budgets, and a checkout that works on patchy 4G in the queue outside the venue.
- 15% Build the serverless backend behind it: Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB with ElectroDB, Stripe webhooks and ticket inventory. The front-end must always show the true availability.
- 10% Run experiments and read the funnel: conversion, drop-off and attribution. Turn what you learn into the next release.
- 5% Raise the standard of testing (Jest and Playwright), accessibility and finish.
You'll be successful here if you have
- Strong computer-science fundamentals and substantial experience of shipping consumer products to a paying audience.
- Experience of building a product on your own: from an empty repo to users, with nobody else writing the tickets.
- Deep TypeScript and React skills, with Remix, Next.js or an equivalent SSR framework in production.
- Mobile web performance experience: you have measured LCP and INP, and you have improved them.
- The ability to own the backend your feature needs, on AWS serverless or an equivalent cloud runtime.
- Payments or checkout experience. You know that a money path needs correctness first.
- A love of live music. You go to gigs, and you have opinions about how tickets should be sold.
- Product judgement: you notice the empty state, the error copy and the second tap.
Nice to have
- Experience at a music company, for example a ticketing platform or a streaming service.
- Growth or conversion-rate optimisation on a high-traffic consumer funnel.
- Wallet and express-payment integrations: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe Payment Element.
- Design skills, or the confidence to work from Figma and finish the last 10%.
How we work
- Remote-first, with quarterly in-person hack weeks in London.
- A small, senior team with no management layers and a lot of autonomy.
- One-week sprints, async communication and fast decisions.
- We value clean code, continuous learning and doing right by artists.
Benefits
- Competitive salary, set by experience, plus equity.
- Fully remote, with the hours that suit you.
- We engage you as an employee or as a contractor, according to the country where you live.
- Unlimited paid holiday, plus local public holidays.
- Free gig tickets and backstage passes to all Gotobeat shows.
Hiring process
- Intro chat (30 min): the role, the music and whether we make sense to each other.
- Technical deep dive (90 min): an architecture discussion and live pairing on a realistic problem. No LeetCode.
- Founders' chat (30 min): vision, values and any remaining questions.
Total time from first call to offer: about two weeks.
