About the artist

Wunderhorse is a Cornish rock band formed in 2020 by frontman Jacob Slater, initially as a solo project before expanding into a full band. Their sound is primarily alternative rock, indie rock, grunge, and Americana, often noted for its punk influences, bluesy undertones, and crashing guitar rock that evokes 90s alt-rock and shoegaze. Slater, known for his previous work in the punk trio Dead Pretties and his role as Paul Cook in Danny Boyle's "Pistol" series, leads the band which includes Harry Fowler on guitar, Seb Byford on bass (who replaced Pete Woodin in May 2025), and Jamie Staples on drums. The band released their critically acclaimed debut album "Cub" in 2022, followed by their second album, "Midas," on August 30, 2024. In recent endeavours, Wunderhorse embarked on a fully sold-out UK tour in October 2024, including a significant show at London's Brixton Academy. They have also announced their largest headline show to date at Alexandra Palace for May 29, 2025. The single "The Rope," released on June 2, 2025, achieved commercial success, topping the UK Official Singles Sales, Physical Singles, and Vinyl releases charts. Wunderhorse has performed at prestigious events like Glastonbury Festival in both 2023 and 2025. However, they recently withdrew from TRNSMT 2025 due to an "ongoing band illness." Looking ahead, frontman Jacob Slater has indicated a desire to explore more hopeful themes in their upcoming music.
