World News is a South London via Brighton band known for their eclectically influenced modern guitar music that draws from a range of ideas from the '80s, incorporating melodic post art-punk, jangly British indie rock, post-punk, indie-rock, and shoegaze elements. The quartet consists of Alex Evans (guitar & vox), Rory Evans (bass), Malte Henning (drums), and Jack Tollman (rhythm guitar). The band has earned comparisons to iconic acts such as DIIV, Beach Fossils, The Fall, XTC, The Smiths, The Clash, and Dire Straits. In their latest endeavors, World News released the single "Don't Want To Know" in May 2025, which is a precursor to their upcoming debut album. They are currently recording this debut album at RAK studios with producer Tommy Bosustow, with its release anticipated this year. The band also played at Moth Club on September 25, 2025. In 2024, they rapidly released two EPs, "Escape" and "Mindsnap," with "Mindsnap" exploring darker, gothic sounds and marking the first co-written work by brothers Alex and Rory. World News concluded 2024 with acclaim from Stereogum, SPIN, The Fader, and KEXP, alongside sold-out performances in London and New York City, and were nominated among Stereogum's 40 Best New Artists of 2024. Prior to that, they released the singles "Wrapped in Gold" and "The Tinman" in 2023.
