Weval is an Amsterdam-based electronic duo composed of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers, known for their genre-blurring, emotionally rich, and textured productions that combine analog warmth with forward-thinking sound design. Their music often traverses introspective electronica, psychedelic pop, and atmospheric dance music, infused with a cinematic approach to storytelling. Their latest endeavor is the upcoming fourth studio album, "CHOROPHOBIA," scheduled for release on September 5, 2025, through Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour. The album marks a deliberate shift towards more dancefloor-oriented sounds, embracing higher BPMs and club-ready structures, a playful irony given the album's title, which means "fear of dancing." Recent singles "Free," "Just Friends," and "Dopamine" offer a preview of this new direction. Weval has a comprehensive run of UK and EU headline shows planned for autumn 2025, following summer appearances supporting Rüfüs du Sol. They also have a confirmed concert at Paradiso on March 27, 2026. Their previous album, "Remember," was released on March 3, 2023.
