WagakkiBand is a Japanese band renowned for fusing rock and metal music with traditional Japanese instruments (wagakki) and Shigin poetry. Their unique sound blends j-rock, j-pop, folk metal, and vocaloid influences. The band gained early popularity through covers of Vocaloid songs, with their music videos for "Tengaku" and "Senbonzakura" attracting millions of views. Since their debut album "Vocalo Zanmai" in 2014, which reached number 5 on the Oricon charts, they have consistently released albums that rank in the top 5, such as "Yasō Emaki" (2015) and "Otonoe" (2018), both of which won Japan Record Awards. They have performed internationally in Asia, Europe, and the United States. However, WagakkiBand announced an indefinite hiatus commencing December 31, 2024, after celebrating their 10th anniversary. This decision was made after extensive discussions among the members, allowing each to focus on individual projects and personal growth, with the intention of returning as an even stronger band in the future. As of June 2026, there are no upcoming live shows scheduled for WagakkiBand.
