Victor Wooten is a highly acclaimed American bassist, songwriter, and record producer, celebrated for his groundbreaking style that blends jazz, funk, rock, bluegrass, pop, and progressive rock. He is a five-time Grammy Award recipient and has been named Bass Player of the Year by Bass Player magazine three times, being the first person to win the award more than once. He gained widespread recognition as a founding member of the influential jazz-fusion group Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, formed in 1988, and continues to record and tour with them. Beyond the Flecktones, Wooten has a significant solo career, is a member of the supergroup SMV with Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller, and has collaborated with numerous other renowned artists. He is also a published author, with works including "The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music" and its sequel, "The Spirit of Music: The Lesson Continues," released in 2021. In recent endeavors, Victor Wooten and The Wooten Brothers are set to tour Australia and New Zealand in February 2026, showcasing their electrifying, genre-bending live show. Additionally, September 11, 2024, was announced as Victor Wooten Official Day of Recognition in Tennessee, celebrating his 60th birthday. He also continues his dedication to music education through Victor Wooten's Center for Music and Nature (Wooten Woods) and co-leads the Victor Wooten/Berklee Summer Bass Workshop at Berklee College of Music.
