Theo Vandenhoff is a Toronto-based artist known for creating melancholic yet danceable synthpop within the darkwave, post-punk, cold wave, gothic rock, and deathrock genres. Fronted by Theo Klaver, with Callum Crombie on guitar and Tom Nixon on bass, the band weaves together influences from 70s and 80s music, including early 80s German EBM, blending insistent drum machines, reverb-laden bass, and soaring synth hooks with vulnerable vocals. His music often explores themes of alienation, loneliness, and introspection. Most recently, Theo Vandenhoff released the album "Saviour On The Spilled Blood" around May 2026, featuring a blend of retro and modern sounds. This album includes the single "Wong Kar-wai," an homage to the Hong Kong filmmaker, released in January 2026, and "(Portrait of) Amália Rodrigues," a tribute to the Portuguese fado singer, released in December 2025. Signed to Artoffact Records, Theo Vandenhoff continues to be recognized as one of Toronto's exciting live acts. Previously, he released his debut EP "Heartache Is An Empty Room" in 2021 and the single "Alles Ist Besser" in June 2022.
