The White Buffalo, the stage name of singer-songwriter Jake Smith, is known for his gravelly baritone voice and compelling narrative lyrics that often explore themes fitting the Southern Gothic genre, with touches of Americana, country, rock, and folk. His music has gained significant recognition through placements in popular TV shows like *Sons of Anarchy*, *Californication*, and *The Punisher*. His latest major endeavor is the release of his first-ever live album, *A Freight Train Through The Night*, which was digitally released worldwide on October 4, 2024. This album spans his 20-plus year career, featuring crowd favorites and deep cuts, recorded live at the Belly-Up in San Diego. Additionally, starting October 11, 2024, The White Buffalo launched "Freight Train Fridays," digitally releasing 14 live bonus tracks weekly from the Belly Up performances. A limited, double-vinyl collector's edition of the 16-song album was also made available. The White Buffalo has also announced a UK and Ireland tour for August 2025. Further tour dates extend into March 2026, with shows scheduled across California. He recorded his eighth studio album, *Year Of The Dark Horse*, released in November 2022, with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Jay Joyce. This album was described as a sonic and lyrical journey through one lunar year in a man's life, showing a departure from his acoustic-driven comfort zone.
