The Upbeats

The Upbeats are a drum'n'bass duo from New Zealand, formed in Wellington by Jeremy Glenn ("Terror Snake") and Dylan Jones ("Downie Wolf"). Active since the early 2000s, their powerful sound oscillates between dancefloor-oriented drum'n'bass and more atmospheric compositions. They set up their own label, Non Vogue, while publishing on renowned labels such as Virus Recordings, Vision Recordings and Bad Taste Recordings. Their debut album, The Upbeats (2004), marked their high-profile entry onto the international scene, followed by Nobody's Out There (2007), Big Skeleton (2009) and Primitive Technique (2013), which confirmed their reputation among the drum'n'bass public. 2015 saw the release of the cult Dead Limit EP with Noisia, followed by the De-Evolution series, a three-EP project released in 2016 and 2017. After the EPs No Sleep 'Til Japan & Iceland (2018) and No Sleep 'Til New Zealand (2019) follows the album Not Forever (2021). In 2024, the compilation 20 Years of The Upbeats retraces the duo's career in thirty tracks.
