“La’s-esque, with an ear for a big chorus” – Steve Lamacq, BBC 6Music “Spellbinding… anthemic songs” – This Feeling “A bit special. Love the tune” – BBC Introducing “Heart-wrenching tunes that will stop you in your tracks” – The Zine “Catchy hooks and furious rhythms” – Gigslutz Drawn together by music as eclectic as it is thematically rich, The Institutes are a five-piece from Coventry blending melodic energy with emotional depth—peaceful yet furious, urgent yet intimate. Their debut album COLOSSEUMS (2021) cemented them as one of the UK’s most exciting rising guitar bands, praised for shimmering guitars, cinematic choruses, and raw honesty. A limited reissue with a revamped Inside Out highlighted their evolving sound and ambition. Renowned as a relentlessly touring force, they’ve taken their anthemic live shows across the UK, Europe, and the U.S., from club venues to festivals including Isle of Wight, Kendal Calling, Godiva, Shiiine On Weekender, Liverpool Sound City, and overseas appearances at SXSW (Austin), New Colossus (New York), and a sold-out headline show in Los Angeles. Now working with Matt Terry at Vada Studios (whose credits include The Enemy, Ocean Colour Scene, The Prodigy, Editors), the band are crafting their second album, pushing into bold new sonic territory. The Institutes remain a band in motion—restlessly creating, relentlessly touring, and uncompromisingly honest in their pursuit of timeless, urgent music.
