The Funkin' Machine live history: italo disco
The Funkin' Machine is a Neapolitan disco-funk band formed in 2020, recognized for their authentic, warm, and brilliant funky sounds that blend cosmic disco, jazz-funk, psychedelic Afro-Italo textures, and Mediterranean boogie. Their music distinguishes itself from typical synthwave Italo Disco, drawing deep inspiration from the vibrant groove culture of Naples. The band consists of Andres Balbucea on lead vocals and piano, Alessio Pignorio on guitar, Vincenzo Lamagna on bass, Paolo Batà Bianconcini on percussions, and Andrea De Fazio on drums. They have connections to other respected Italian artists such as Nu Genea and Mystic Jungle. Their latest endeavors include the album "Napoletanite," a collaboration with Chicago's Star Creature Records, which was released around December 2025. This six-track LP is a vibrant follow-up to their "Nun Trovo Cchiù" 7-inch and features tracks such as "Tengo Paura D'a Morte," "Chiki Chicancan," and "Grammegna". Additionally, The Funkin' Machine released the "Nun Trovo Cchiù / Chiki Chicancan (Instrumental Mixes)" EP in July 2025 and the single "Grammegna" on February 6, 2026. Their debut release was "Allerta Meteo" in 2021 through Periodica Records' "Serie Pegaso".
