The Femcels live history: electroclash
The Femcels, an English electronic pop duo from London consisting of Rowan Miles and Gabriella Turton, craft an energetic and chaotic blend of electroclash, electro-twee, and punk-infused dance music. Their sound is characterized by unvarnished vocals, lo-fi synths, chiptune toplines, and often provocative, humorous lyrics that explore themes of identity, modern dating, and the absurdities of young womanhood in 2020s London. They are known for a distinctive mix of irony and sincerity, skewering pop feminism and music culture with their unique style. Formed in February 2024, The Femcels released their debut album, "I Have to Get Hotter," on January 24, 2026, which received a 7.6 rating from Pitchfork. The duo has recently released their second music video for the track "She Seems Kind Of Stupid". While they were scheduled for a mini-tour of North America in July 2026, including dates in San Francisco, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago, their first international tour was unfortunately cancelled and postponed indefinitely due to new visa regulations between the UK and the US. Despite this, they have accumulated a significant online following with over 25,000 Instagram followers and 33,000 Spotify followers, and have been recognized for their vibrant artistry and engaging performances. Rowan Miles also released a collaborative album, "The Velvet Underground & Rowan," with Worldpeace DMT in July 2025. In a recent development, they reportedly signed a £1.2 million record deal.
