The Cain Pit is a five-piece "Punkgrass" band hailing from Norwich, Norfolk, UK, known for blending the raw energy of punk rock with the twangy heart of bluegrass, rockabilly, and other roots music, often referred to as folk punk. Formed by cousins Daryl Blyth (vocals, double bass) and Scott Blyth (guitar) during the pandemic, the band expanded to include Isaac Crass (banjo), Joe Halliday (acoustic guitar, harmonica), and Jamie Tritton (drums). They are noted for their lightning-fast banjo picking, slap double bass, and punk intensity, creating sing-along anthems with rebellious energy and whiskey-soaked melodies. The band has been actively releasing new music, with their debut EP "Sorrow" released in May 2024 and another EP titled "Joy" in 2025, which compiles several singles including "Devil's Side" and "Dead Man's Guitar". A 12" vinyl combining "Sorrow & Joy" was also released in 2025. The Cain Pit has gained a dedicated following through their independent, DIY approach, with their single "Roses" even achieving viral status. Their recent endeavors include performing at major events such as Psychobilly Meeting 2025 and Beardy Folk Festival in June 2025. They have also supported acts like Steve 'N' Seagulls and Mad Dog McRea and have played at festivals such as Bearded Theory, Maui Waui, and Red Rooster Festival. The band is set to play a sold-out headline show at The Adrian Flux Waterfront Studio in Norwich in May 2026.
