Dripping with the bloody history of Santa Cruz, California, aka Santa Carla, where three serial killers ran wild at the same time in the 1970’s. As all True Crime believers know, the mayor was once quoted saying “Surf City, USA? More like Murderville, USA” which the press ran with and started calling the “Murder Capital of the World”. Because of this widespread deadly reputation, Santa Cruz would later inspire director Joel Schumacher to make Santa Cruz, renamed Santa Carla, the filming location of his 1987 cult classic, The Lost Boys. He saw the bohemian beach town, with its internationally known horror stories, as the perfect hunting grounds for teenage vampires to run wild and go unnoticed… and boy was he right. If the starlit backstreets and bloody beaches of Santa Cruz could rock, they’d probably sound a lot like Stellar Corpses.
