Buy tickets for Snorkel concerts: krautrock
Snorkel is a South London-based collective known for their krautrock-influenced sound, blending improvisation, electronica, dub, and sound art into an unpredictable and hypnotic experience. Described as "the missing link between Krautrock and Lee Scratch Perry," the band, formed by drummer/producer Frank Byng, revels in angular repetition, deep polyrhythmic grooves, and the real-time sculpting of unruly soundscapes. They draw inspiration from groups like Can, This Heat, and Soft Machine, employing a flexible lineup of key figures from the UK's experimental underground. Snorkel's latest endeavor is their third full-length album, "Past Still Present Tense," released in November 2025, which spans a decade of recordings, capturing their evolution while hinting at future sonic directions with sprawling grooves, granular synthesis, and abstract electronics. In 2025, they also released several singles, including "No One Home," "High," and "Sirene". The band performed at The State51Factory in London in November 2025, and their creative hub, Snorkel Studios, continues to be a space for constant exploration. Members of Snorkel are also involved in various other musical projects.
