Shearwater is an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas, fronted by multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Meiburg, known for their cerebral, intimate melodic songs, nature-based imagery, and elements of slowcore, psychedelic folk, and folk rock. The band's sound is characterized by Meiburg's distinct vocals. Shearwater is currently nearing the completion of a sprawling double-length album titled "The New World," which they believe could be their finest work to date, with a crowdfunding campaign successfully exceeding its goal to help with its final production and promotion. Their most recent album, "The Great Awakening," was released in June 2022. Additionally, Meiburg is involved with the side project Loma, which released an album, "How Will I Live Without a Body?", in 2024. As of now, there are no upcoming tour dates scheduled for Shearwater.
