Shady Baby is the musical project of Brighton-based Sam Leaver, drawing inspiration from Madchester, Britpop, and John Cooper Clarke. His music is described as angst-ridden pop. The band formed in 2022 and was quickly signed to Nice Swan Records after only one gig. They have worked with producer Theo Verney (English Teacher, Lime Garden, Egyptian Blue). Shady Baby's latest single, "Held In," was released in October 2024. The band played at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton on January 29, 2025.
