About Şatellites

Anatolian rock

Şatellites is a six-piece band from Tel Aviv known for their vibrant Anatolian rock sound, blending traditional Turkish folk with psychedelic rock, vintage psych, and spacey grooves. They describe their music as "retro-fresh psych à la Turk," creating a sound that evokes the mysterious alleys of 70s Istanbul and the sun-drenched coast of Jaffa-Tel Aviv. The band's sound prominently features the saz (a lute-like instrument), electric guitars, and groovy baselines, drawing heavily from the 1960s and 70s Turkish psychedelic music wave while incorporating Western influences and Middle Eastern scales. Following their acclaimed self-titled debut album, Şatellites recently released their second album, "Aylar" (Turkish for “moons” or “months”), which came out in early 2025. "Aylar" showcases a bold evolution in their sound, featuring more ambitious arrangements, extended compositions, intricate harmonies, and unexpected twists. This album sees Şatellites transforming into a fully realized musical force, expanding their influences while deepening their connection to their roots and confidently stepping out of the shadows of their Anatolian psych heroes. The current lineup includes Rotem Bahar on vocals, Itamar Kluger on baglama, Tsuf Mishali on keys and synths, Ariel Harrosh on bass, Lotan Yaish on drums, and Tal Eyal on percussion. Their debut album garnered international acclaim and earned support from various radio stations, including BBC Radio 6 Music and FIP in France, and they were invited to record live sessions for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide FM and KEXP in Seattle.
