Safety Jacket is an indie rock band from Brighton, England, formed in late 2019. The trio consists of George Smale on vocals and guitars, Harvey Cash on bass and vocals, and Joseph Thorpe on drums, vocals, piano, synths, and acoustic guitar. Their music is characterized by vulnerable and cathartic indie rock songs, often compared to bands like The Wedding Present and early Arcade Fire, with brutal poetic lyrics and a raw, unfettered sound. The band released their debut album, "Honey From The Wasp Nest," in August 2022. This release was accompanied by a single titled "My Head Is A Wasp Nest" and an official video. They also performed a session of their single "Young Professionals" from the album for Totally Wired in August 2022. The album's launch at Rialto Theatre was noted for its impassioned delivery and songs that deal with themes of mental health and bereavement.
