About the artist

Ryan Wang is a Canadian classical pianist who rose to international prominence after winning BBC Young Musician 2024 at the age of 17. He began playing piano at four and gave his first solo recital at Carnegie Hall when he was five. Wang also holds the distinction of being the youngest ever recipient of the prestigious Prix Cortot from the École Normale de Musique de Paris, which he received in May 2024. His recent endeavors include performing Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at the BBC Young Musician Grand Final. For the 2025/2026 season, he is scheduled to make major orchestral debuts with the Philharmonia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also set to appear at several first-class festivals, including the Festival International de Piano de La Roque d'Anthéron, Edinburgh International Festival, Paris Chopin Festival, and Festival International de Piano de Biarritz. Recital highlights for the upcoming season include performances at London's Kings Place, the Opéra de Marseille, and a return to Paris' Salle Cortot. Wang was also featured in Classic FM's '30 Under 30' in 2023 and was part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton's New Generation Series for 2022/23. He has performed globally in recitals and with orchestras across Europe and Asia, including notable appearances at Windsor Castle and Carnegie Hall.
