Ren, whose full name is Ren Erin Gill, is a Welsh singer-songwriter, musician, rapper, producer, actor, and director known for his genre-bending music that incorporates elements of hip-hop, acoustic folk, spoken word, rock, rap, reggae, and indie. He gained significant recognition with his viral 2022 release "Hi Ren" and his 2023 album "Sick Boi" topped the UK charts. Ren has openly shared his ongoing battle with Lyme disease and autoimmune conditions, often integrating these experiences and mental health awareness into his work. In 2024, he performed at the Sky Arts Awards and faced health setbacks, requiring further treatment for Lyme disease and a related hospitalization. As of 2025, Ren has released new singles, "Vincent's Tale - Prologue - Sunflowers" and "Vincent's Tale - Self Portrait," continuing his "Tale" series, with "Richard's Tale" also announced. He appeared in "Fire in the Booth" in February 2025 and walked the runway at New York Fashion Week for Lyme disease awareness. He is currently undergoing treatment in Mexico for Lyme disease and autoimmunity, including stem cell transplants, and in Brighton with monthly IVIG treatments. Ren has also announced an upcoming EP, "Sick Sick Soul," with The Skinner Brothers, with weekly song and music video releases starting in October 2025, and is in the process of building his own studio. He has emphasized the need to pace himself due to his health, which may cause some delays in releases.
