Racing Mount Pleasant is an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based art rock band, formerly known as Kingfisher, that formed in 2019. Their sound has been described as a blend of indie, alternative folk, post-rock, chamber pop, Midwest emo, and garage rock, often drawing comparisons to artists such as Bon Iver, Lord Huron, Black Country, New Road, and Arcade Fire. After releasing their debut album *Grip Your Fist, I'm Heaven Bound* in November 2022 under their previous name, the band officially changed to Racing Mount Pleasant on April 9, 2025. They subsequently released their self-titled second album, *Racing Mount Pleasant*, on August 15, 2025, which includes singles like "Call It Easy," "Racing Mount Pleasant," and "Your New Place." The album has garnered positive reviews for its intricate arrangements and emotional depth, exploring themes of memory and heartbreak. In late 2025, Racing Mount Pleasant toured with Geese and debuted a new, unreleased song at a hometown show in Ann Arbor in December. The band is set to embark on a North America headline tour in January 2026.
