About the artist

Pompis, whose real name is Kevin Port-Lis, is a Martinican artist born in 1984 in Fort-de-France to a Guadeloupean father and a mixed-race African mother, and has lived between Martinique and French Guiana. He has established himself as a major dancehall figure, while exploring reggae and hip-hop, genres that reflect his Caribbean roots. In 2012, Pompis embarked on a solo career, which he confirmed in 2014 with the album Starboy . This was followed by a 10-year career punctuated by collaborations with artists such as Kalash, Saina Manotte and Saïk, consolidating his status as a key player in French-language dancehall. He gave a number of outstanding performances, notably at Reggae Sun Ska and the Karibbean Festival, and in 2023 Pompis released his EP 4CENTO, blending hip-hop and Caribbean influences.
