Petra is an American music group widely recognized as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres, having been formed in 1972. Known for their evolving sound that progressed from a style similar to The Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd to a more energetic rock akin to Foreigner, Styx, and Journey, the band has sold nearly 10 million albums, earning four Grammy Awards and ten Dove Awards throughout their career. Although they formally disbanded in 2006, Petra has continued to perform sporadically and released their first album of all-new material in over two decades, titled "Hope," digitally on January 5, 2026. The album features their 50th-anniversary touring lineup and includes singles like "Deliver Us" and "Skin in the Game," the latter of which was released to Christian rock radio on May 5, 2026. The band is currently touring to support the "Hope" album.
