Nu Genea is an Italian musical duo composed of Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina, originating from Naples. Their sound is a meticulous investigation into dance music, blending disco, funk, boogie, electronic, dub, and folk with a strong Neapolitan sensibility and language. They have gained significant acclaim for their unique groovy equation, which explores diverse sonic echoes that have historically touched the shores of their hometown. Their latest album, "Bar Mediterraneo," released in May 2022, is described as a new journey that further projects their sounds, embodying the idea of a common space where people meet and blend through music. This album, featuring layers of acoustic instruments, vocals, and synthesizers, has been highly successful, with tracks like "Marechià" gaining international traction on streaming platforms and charts in 2021 and 2022. Nu Genea has been actively touring to promote "Bar Mediterraneo," performing at various Italian and European festivals. Recent endeavors include being announced in the lineup for Lowlands 2026, scheduled for August 21-23, 2026. They also have other tour dates planned for 2026 and 2027.
