Nico Play, the musical project of Nicolás Perea, is a Chicago-based artist born in Mexico City, known for his distinctive blend of Pop and Indie Pop. He crafts bilingual songs in both Spanish and English, exploring themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery through appealing melodies, soulful vocals, and pensive lyrics. His music is characterized by dreamy soundscapes and a sound that draws influences from artists like Lana Del Rey and Lorde. In terms of recent endeavors, Nico Play released the "Desilusión" EP in 2022, which features an acoustic, folk-leaning sound with Latin guitar riffs and is a personal expression of his artistry. His popular tracks include "La Ciruela," "You Don't Know," "Tuyo," "Desilusión," and "Bésame Mucho." He recently completed a 13-city tour and has performed at notable venues like Schubas Tavern and festivals such as North Coast Music Festival. Nico Play is currently focusing on writing and recording a new album. He also actively shares updates, including tour announcements and merchandise, on his YouTube channel.
