Newen Afrobeat is a 13-piece Chilean orchestra that infuses Afrobeat with a Latin American sensibility. Founded in 2009, they draw inspiration from Fela Kuti while incorporating elements of Chilean roots music. Their music addresses social issues and celebrates indigenous rights, women's empowerment, and multiculturalism. The band has toured extensively, performing at major festivals like Montreal International Jazz Festival and Felabration in Nigeria. Their latest release is the EP "Grietas" (2024). They have upcoming concerts in Santiago, Chile and Kendal, UK in 2025.
