Mouth Ulcers is a London-based quartet that has rapidly emerged as a significant act in the dark underground scene, crafting a sound often described as "music for vampires to dance to". Their style blends darkwave, gothic rock, cold wave, post-punk, and deathrock, drawing inspiration from 80s post-punk and goth acts like Joy Division, The Cure, and Bauhaus, while also incorporating elements from modern artists such as Twin Tribes, DIIV, and The Soft Moon. The band, formed in 2025 by Zak Watson (vocals/guitar), Josephine Rose (guitar/vocals), Jamie-Lee Culver (bass), and David Zbirka (drums), evolved from a spontaneous studio experiment into a live-focused project. Mouth Ulcers released their single "Prevail" in February 2026, which was inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 film *Stalker* and its themes of mental and physical struggle in a hostile environment. They subsequently signed with LAB Records. In April 2026, they announced their debut EP, *Silent Pictures*, set for release on July 10, accompanied by the new single "Closer To You". The band made their live debut at the Grauzone Festival in The Hague in early 2026 and have since performed at sold-out shows in the UK and the Netherlands. They have several upcoming live dates throughout 2026, including appearances at Get Together Festival, Dot To Dot Festival, and Frogfest.
