Mon Rovîa, also known as Janjay Lowe, is an Afro-Appalachian singer-songwriter originally from Liberia who grew up in the United States. His music is characterized by a unique blend of cultural influences and heartfelt storytelling, primarily within the folk genre, though his earlier work incorporated hip-hop, trap, and R&B elements. His deeply personal lyrics often explore themes of resilience, identity, migration, grief, and healing, drawing from his experiences as a refugee and being trans-racially adopted. In recent endeavors, Mon Rovîa released his debut album, "Bloodline," in January 2026. This follows a series of four EPs released from 2023 to 2025, titled "Act 1: The Wandering," "Act 2: Trials," "Act 3: The Dying of Self," and "Act 4: Atonement," which collectively reflect on his life's journey. His single "Winter Wash 24" from "Act 4: Atonement" was inspired by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), with all proceeds going to the organization. Mon Rovîa was named one of Spotify's 2024 "Juniper Artists to Watch" and has garnered a significant following on TikTok, with nearly one billion lifetime views. He made his music festival debut at Bonnaroo in 2024, performed at Austin City Limits, and made his Grand Ole Opry debut in July 2025. In early 2026, he supported Alabama Shakes on select dates and made his television debut on CBS Saturday Morning. Mon Rovîa is currently embarking on his "Heal With Others" tour in 2026, with dates scheduled across Europe and the United States.
