MLEKO is a Manchester seven-piece band that describes their sound as 'Gub Rock,' a genre they playfully define as a shrug rather than a rigid statement. Their music is characterized by a blend of brass, bass, and beat, drawing influences from post-punk bands such as Squid, Shame, and Wunderhorse, resulting in a sound that is both "weird, beautiful, and joyous." The band's lineup includes Ed Whirledge (vocals/guitar), Rory Baker (guitar), Tom Houston (sax), Charlotte Nuta (trumpet), Myron Endean (bass), Ioan Saul (drums), and Bruno Evans (guitar/synth). In their latest endeavors, MLEKO announced their signing to Heist or Hit on October 8, 2025. They subsequently released their debut single, "Gub Rock," on October 15, 2025. The band has already experienced sold-out homecoming shows and has upcoming dates secured for the next year, including an appearance at the Manchester Psych Festival on September 5, 2026.
